Theytus Books Celebrates 30 years of Publishing Excellence!

October 28th, 2011

This year Theytus Books turns 30, North America’s oldest Aboriginal publishing house.

We will have a Gala Birthday celebration from 6-8pm on November 10th at the En’owkin Centre with door prizes and book draws for audience members. Past authors and staff from Theytus will be in attendance. If you have ever read and enjoyed a Theytus Book this is the place to be.

Start the day with interactive classes presented in partnership with the Ecommunity Place and Theytus Books that will highlight how the land inspires creativity. Guests are invited to a tour of the Ecommunity Place at 10am or 11am and can choose one of the three following programs:

• Art on the Land: Create a mural with En’owkin art students using the land as inspiration.

• Words of the Land: Jeannette Armstrong will be doing a reading from her own personal writings, Guests will have the chance to create their own mini poetry chapbooks.

• Music on the Land: musicians and dancers from the En’owkin Centre will entertain Guests as they unearth the connections between their performances and the land.

Spaces for the classes are limited to groups of 10 per class so sign up early to avoid disappointment.
