Orca Book Publishers
Orca Book Publishers is an independent Canadian children’s book publisher. We publish award-winning, bestselling board books, picture books, fiction, hi-lo and accessible books for striving readers and beautifully designed nonfiction books.
We strive to produce books that illuminate the experiences of people of all ethnicities, people with disabilities and people who identify as LGBTQIA+. Our goal is to provide reading material that represents the diversity of the human experience to readers of all ages; we aim to help young readers see themselves reflected in the books they read. We are mindful of this in our selection of books and have a particular interest in publishing books that celebrate the lives of Indigenous people. Providing young people with exposure to diversity through reading creates a more compassionate world.
Our ongoing nonfiction series include: Orca Footprints, Orca Timeline, Orca Think, Orca Wild, and The World Around Us. Orca also offers three ongoing series of accessible high-interest, low-reading level (hi-lo) fiction for striving readers: Orca Currents, Orca Soundings and Orca Anchor. We also publish select books for adults, including the Rapid Reads line of short, high-interest novels.
