Internship with Greystone Books: Publishing Technology Internship

Greystone Books is a leading publisher of books about nature and the environment, travel and adventure, sports, and current issues, as well as books that are exceptional literary expressions of personal passions. We’re currently seeking an energetic, creative, technology-obsessed intern to assist in marketing and sales of print and digital books. The intern will implement existing and emerging digital technologies to help market and sell Greystone’s print and digital books in North America and around the world. Collaborating with a number of Greystone Books staff, our intern will gain experience selling and marketing books, and participate in the entire publishing process, from acquisition to point of sale and beyond.

Responsibilities may include:

Researching sales and marketing best practices in the digital sphere and recommending effective plans for Greystone Books.

Enhancing and maintaining book content in the Greystone database(s) to optimize sales and marketing metadata.

Recommending how best to incorporate successful sales and marketing activities into the Greystone structure once the internship has concluded.

Building and maintaining a consumer-focused digital platform to engage and build our relationship with Greystone Books readers.

Qualifications:

Degree in Communications, Marketing, Publishing, or equivalent skills and experience

Strong communication, organization, project management, and writing skills

Familiarity and comfort with ebooks. You own an ereader, or maybe more than one. Kindle, Kobo, or Nook: your electronic library is well-stocked

Advanced Excel skills (read: you’re a wizard with formulas)

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Acrobat, InDesign, etc.)

A passion for digital marketing and promotion, with experience using email marketing software

Experience with social media strategy and familiarity with platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, Instagram, and YouTube, as well as their integrated online advertising platforms like Google AdSense

Experience with analytics reporting across social media platforms, including Google Analytics and Facebook Insight

Working knowledge of web page production using HTML and CSS

Understanding of SEO best-practices and a flair for copywriting

A love for books

Bonus Skills – considered a plus:

Experience with video production and or editing
