September 21st, 2022
The Association of Book Publishers of BC is pleased to welcome Asna Shaikh as its new Program Manager. She assumed the position on September 19th, taking over from Kate Balfour. With a background in editorial, marketing & communications, and events, Asna brings her expertise from the Magazine Association of BC, where she supported its marketing and professional development projects. She also co-hosted MagsBC’s podcast I Heart Magazines.
Asna is deeply enthusiastic about literature that entertains, edifies, and enriches its readers and the broader culture. She is passionate about amplifying disenfranchised voices and crafting innovative strategies that inspire community engagement and systemic changes.
She believes in the social, cultural, and economic value of the BC book publishing industry and is excited to support ABPBC’s members through its marketing and advocacy efforts. She looks forward to contributing towards the association’s next chapter as we execute our new strategic plan and rebranding campaign.
