Jennifer Kingsley wins the 2015 National Outdoor Book Award in Outdoor Literature

November 16th, 2015

Greystone Books is thrilled to announce that Jennifer Kingsley has been awarded the 2015 National Outdoor Book Award (NOBA) for Outdoor Literature in Non-Fiction for her first book, Paddlenorth: Adventure, Resilience, and Renewal in the Arctic Wild.

The judges commended Kingsley’s writing for “capturing the human dynamics, the give and take, and the concessions each person needs to make to reach the journey’s end.”

Paddlenorth tells the riveting story of Kingsley’s fifty-four-day paddling adventure on the Back River in the Arctic wilderness as she and her five companions battle raging winds, impenetrable sea ice, treacherous rapids, and agonizing physical endurance while contending with rising tensions among the group.

“I am delighted that Jennifer Kingsley and her book, Paddlenorth, have been recognized by the National Outdoor Book Awards; this very good story, a first book, is just the beginning for a very talented writer,” praised Rob Sanders, publisher of Greystone Books.

Paddlenorth is published by Greystone Books in partnership with the David Suzuki Foundation.
