The Kranky Reading Series

Garry Thomas Morse is the author of Transversals for Orpheus, Streams, Death in Vancouver, After Jack, and Discovery Passages, finalist for the 2011 Governor General’s Award for Poetry and current finalist for the Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize. Minor Episodes / Major Ruckus, his second book of fiction, concerning surrealist and speculative genres, is forthcoming from Talonbooks this Fall (2012).

Deborah Willis was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. Her fiction has appeared in Grain, Event, Prism International, and The Walrus. Her first book, Vanishing and Other Stories, was named one of the Globe and Mail’s Best Books of 2009, and was nominated for the BC Book Prize and the Governor General’s Award. From January 15 to April 15, 2012, Willis is writer-in-residence at Historic Joy Kogawa House, and is also working with a number of local community groups.

Lucia Frangione is an internationally produced and award winning playwright and actor, best known for performing in her own works: Paradise Garden, Espresso, MMM, Cariboo Magi, Chickens, and Holy Mo. Espresso toured Western Canada and has run for years in Poland. Her twenty three plays have been produced by theatres such as The Arts Club, Belfry, Ruby Slippers, Solo Collective, Chemainus Theatre, Prairie Theatre Exchange and Lambs Players San Diego. She has been the recipient of two Gordon Armstrong writing awards, the Sydney Risk award and the CAEA Stage West emerging artist award. She is currently working on a new play for St Lawrence Shakespeare Festival in Prescott and is part of the creative collective for The Forgiveness Project with Horseshoes And Hand Grenades and looks forward to producing Leave Of Absence with Pacific Theatre in 2013.
