Caitlin Press is seeking a publishing intern for a full time one-year contract.
The intern will have a foundation or interest in publishing with a focus on new technologies, some basic production and publishing skills, and an interest in book production and editorial. However, managing the press’s technology program and data management will be a key responsibility of this position. To that end we are looking for graduates with a BA, BFA, MPUB or educational focus on e book and print book production.
The ideal intern will bring the following skills to our company:
• Interest in publishing (both traditional and new technologies)
• Adept at social media and website technology
• Aptitude for data management
• Creative ability
• Ability to multi task
• Some knowledge of the design and data development software, including Indesign, photoshop, Microsoft office, Excel, Access, Oxygen, WordPress
• Interest in the business of publishing
• A commitment to books
Caitlin Press is located in sunny Halfmoon Bay on the Sunshine Coast, just 40 minutes from Vancouver by ferry. As this is an in-house position, the student will be required to relocate for the period of the internship. The Sunshine Coast is a satellite community of Vancouver, with all the charm of a small town, but with access to the benefits of the city. The Sunshine Coast has a vibrant arts and culture community and is home to some of Canada’s most celebrated and coveted literary and music festivals. The Sunshine Coast is also renown for its outdoor activities, and is ideal for anyone who has a passion for hiking, kayaking, fishing, mountain biking, snowshoeing or camping.
Internship term: Sept, 08, 2014- August 21, 2015
Wage: $30,000.00 to 32,000.00 dependent upon experience
