Whitecap Books is one of Canada’s leading book publishers. Our diverse list focuses primarily on food and wine, but also extends to regional history, regional guidebooks, children’s picture books, and YA.  Whitecap publishes approximately 20 titles per year, separated into Spring and Fall seasons. We are currently seeking one talented, organized, and detail-orientated individual to fill the position of Publicity Coordinator.

As the Publicity Coordinator, you will be expected to respond to media requests and coordinate with freelance publicists in order to enhance the public’s opinion about Whitecap titles. You will represent our books and authors to external media, and coordinate author and media relations, in conjunction with our head office and freelance publicists.

You will work closely with the authors and our head office to develop promotional plans unique to each book and assign responsibilities. Some of these duties may include coordinating book tours, media appearance, book  signings and other events. You will be assisting with arranging travel and catering and escorting authors to media events in Vancouver.

You will field media inquiries for all of our titles, maintain an updated media mailing list, and direct books to appropriate media for review and author interviews. Working with Whitecap’s in-house designers, you will coordinate the production of promotional materials, as well as write and design press materials (such as press releases). In addition, you will be responsible for updating Whitecap’s news and events blog as well as writing monthly e-newsletters and managing our online/social media presence through  Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and beyond.
