Call for Volunteers: Word Vancouver

August 8th, 2013

WORD Vancouver is a free community event and Western Canada’s largest celebration of literacy and reading. Held on the last weekend of September at Library Square in beautiful downtown Vancouver, our festival promotes books and authors with exhibits, performances, and hands-on activities for a wide range of ages and interests, all for free. Formerly called The Word on the Street Vancouver, this year the festival is rebranding with a new name. Volunteers contribute in many different capacities, including Set-Up, Traffic Control/Greeter, and Venue Captain.

Why should you volunteer?

This festival is only made possible by the dedication of our volunteers. Through your efforts and commitment, we make it possible for over 30,000 visitors to enjoy the festival events every year, completely free of charge. Volunteering is great way to be involved in the festival on a deeper level, and to meet like-minded lovers of literature.

Volunteers will receive:

  • Volunteer hours
  • Work experience
  • Event T-Shirt
  • Food and drink
  • Fun!
